I set out to hire a Harley Davidson Trike at Eaglerider in LA for a week, the idea being to ride in 2 days to Flagstaff Arizona over the motorway and ride back over Route 66 to Los Angeles....
Linda and I will be embarking on an 11,000-mile trip around the United States. I am calling this trip a "Three and a Half Corners Trip" because we have no plans at this time of including the New England states. [...] Along the way we have made reservations at only three places, Lake Tahoe, CA, Anacortes, WA, and Prince of Wales Lodge in Waterton Park, Alberta, Canada. The rest will be catch-as-catch-can. We left Santa Clara about 8:30 in the morning and the temperature was already in the low 70’s. We headed straight for Saratoga and Hwy 9 towards the mountains and the coastline that waited on the other side. Saratoga sits right at the bottom of the Coastal Range and is a nice town in its own right, but today we had other places to visit...
...Today we will be heading for Yosemite National Park then stop at Lee Vining, CA for the evening. We headed up Hwy. 880 to the Mission cutoff over to Hwy 680 then to Hwy 580 East. This took us through the Altamont Pass area with its hilltops full of windmills for generating electricity...
